Wing Nut
A wing nut is a type of nut with two extended “wings” on either side, designed to be tightened or loosened by hand without using tools. In construction, wing nuts are commonly used in shuttering and formwork systems to secure tie rods, bolts, clamps, or adjustable props. The wings provide easy grip, allowing workers to quickly adjust the tension of tie rods or fix formwork components while on-site. Wing nuts help ensure that the formwork panels remain stable, aligned, and properly secured during concreting. After the concrete sets, they can be loosened and removed easily, making the system reusable.
